Olive Oil from Krk
Our Story in Drops of Liquid Gold
More Than Flavor – Olive Oil as the Soul of the Island
When you think of Krk, you might picture clear blue sea and charming stone alleys—but the true soul of our island lies in something more grounded: the olive tree. Here, olive growing isn’t just a tradition; it’s a way of life that stretches back more than two thousand years. The Romans knew it, and so did every generation that followed.
Our warm Mediterranean climate, the rocky limestone soil, and the abundance of sunshine give olives from Krk a unique character. That’s why Krk’s olive oil is so prized: rich in flavor, balanced in aroma, and deeply rooted in our island’s story.
Our Olive Grove, Our Family, Our Story
Here in Ljutici, just above Malinska, sits Villa Ulika, surrounded by the olive trees we’ve nurtured for years. Our grove may be small, but it means the world to us. Every tree feels like part of the family.
We pick the olives by hand and press them cold, without any additives or shortcuts. We don’t produce large batches, and what we do make is reserved for what matters most: our guests, our meals, and our way of life.
You’ll also find our oil at Hotel Villa Margaret and Summer House Magdalena, both in Malinska. Whether drizzled over a salad, paired with grilled fish, or simply served with warm bread, it’s often the flavor our guests remember the most.
From Tree to Bottle – How We Make Our Olive Oil
Harvest begins in October, just as the fruit reaches perfect ripeness. We pick the olives and take them to be pressed the same day to preserve freshness and nutrition.
Using cold pressing methods, we retain all the natural goodness—vitamin E, antioxidants, and healthy fats. After filtration, the oil rests in stainless steel tanks, protected from air and light. Finally, we bottle it in dark glass to ensure maximum quality.
A Flavor That Tells a Story
Our oil has a soft yet distinct character. You’ll taste fresh-cut grass, almond, and a hint of artichoke. It’s not overpowering but layered—just like our island.
Every year the flavor shifts slightly, depending on the weather and the harvest. But one thing never changes: it’s honest, homegrown, and made with care.
Why We’re Sharing This With You?
Because when you stay at Villa Ulika, you’re not just renting a villa—you’re stepping into our way of life. This island, this oil, this story… it’s something we live every day, and we love sharing it with you.
